My background as a teacher has given me an invaluable foundation for technical writing. That experience taught me the importance of constantly stepping into the audience’s shoes to achieve learning goals. It’s a mental framework I use constantly.
Cordial
Originally hired as the sole technical writer at Cordial, I launched a large-scale upgrade of our Knowledge Base with improved UX design and information architecture. I collaborated with the marketing and UX teams to develop a scalable style guide for learning content, then I revised and updated hundreds of individual articles to maintain a consistent voice and style across Cordial’s docs—all in an effort to clearly showcase the platform’s latest functionality and create a sustainable documentation process. I did this in addition to documenting new features and releases.
Cordial is a complex platform, so it can be a steep learning curve for new users. To address that, I’ve worked hard to create easily digestible articles that break down involved processes and empower people to get the most out of the platform. Here are a few examples.
I also write documentation to empower developers and other technical audiences. I’ve enjoyed the challenge of learning industry standards for API and integration documentation, expanding my own technical knowledge and pushing myself to achieve the precision required to serve those audiences.
I love to learn, so it was awesome to teach myself about the docs-as-code process and use it to create a Quickstart guide for integrating Cordial and Snowflake. Putting a Cordial guide on Snowflake’s Quickstarts page was a valuable opportunity to reinforce market visibility and credibility for the company.
